Dean Group Addressing Skills Shortage in Manufacturing Industry


Dean Group have taken steps to address the huge skills shortage in the manufacturing industry by supporting two up-and-coming members of staff through an apprenticeship scheme.

Sam Dean and Jack Hutchison have both completed a three-year Engineering apprenticeship, which consisted of in-house training with Dean Group, supported by an academic qualification.

The pair are now in the process of specialising their work within the company and will continue to gain valuable experience in their demanding roles amongst a vastly experienced team. 

Chairman, Christopher Dean said: “We believe it is exceptionally important to address the skills shortage within the manufacturing industry and are pleased to be doing our bit to help.

“Both Jack and Sam have been a fantastic addition to the team and have learnt an awful lot over the last three-years. We are pleased that they will now begin to branch out and find their specialism within the company.”

Dean Group have also made several changes in their management structure with Graham Stubbs taking on the role of Managing Director, while former MD Christopher Dean has made the move to become Chairman of the company.

Graham has been with Dean Group since 2013 and has over 24 years’ experience in various project management, production and operational roles.

Graham Stubbs said: “It’s a genuine honour to be named the Managing Director here at Dean Group and I can’t wait to get started in the role.

“The company has gone from strength to strength in recent years and we’re confident we can keep this trend going, even with the uncertainty surrounding the industry because of Brexit.”
